When I found out I was pregnant with Lydia, one of the things that I looked forward to most about her arrival was story time. I would read books from my childhood to her when she was still in my tummy. Now that she has a little sister, holiday book reading is even more special!

While I was creating this list, my mom and I talked about holiday themed children’s books and the lack of options she had to choose from when my sister and I were kids. I love holiday themed books. Nothing gets me into the spirit more than the books and the movies that celebrate special times of the year. And now that I can enjoy them with the girls, I have made sure we are fully stocked from October to December! Thanksgiving and Christmas book lists coming soon!

I originally wrote this post last year and our love for these books has grown, especially now that Eva likes to sit and listen as well. As soon as October rolls around, we can’t wait to start reading through this list. Lydia started pre-school this year, so we love to work her letters and alphabet sounds while we read B is for Boo. She is also in love with Vampirina Ballerina after starting dance in early September. it truly is the cutest story and a fun review of ballet dance moves. Out of every book we have listed here, Pick a Pumpkin is definitely the family favorite this year. Visiting the pumpkin patch is one of our favorite parts of this season, and we get to live that experience every time we read this book! It describes (in rhyme) each step to picking a pumpkin, cleaning it, carving it, and preparing it for Halloween night. Plus, the illustrations are amazing. Highly, highly recommend this new release.

So, here is our list of the best Halloween books for kids. They will definitely get you into the Halloween spirit in the least terrifying way. Which is perfect for the House of Perez – Hocus Pocus is about as spooky as we get!
